LAGOS is one of the most beautiful small towns in the Algarve. The old town centre with its charm, the many beaches, various golf courses, several restaurants and bars, beautiful walks and excursions to go on and all the countryside to explore.
The weather is amazing over 300 days of the year. Although we do need the rain, the weather never gets very cold, and we rarely have consecutive rainy days. You might wake up in the rain, but worry not, because by the afternoon the sun will shine again.
In Lagos you have all the nice experience of a small town, with local shops, restaurants, coffee shops, businesses, but you are never very far away from anything you might find missing, like maybe a day of shopping in Portimão or even an adventure to Lisbon which is 3 hours away and you can drive, take the bus or train.
There is a lot to explore all around: Sagres and the end of the world, Monchique with the best views in the autumn/winter, and the best chicken piri-piri.
Bird watching in Alvor, or also in Alvor you can become a bird yourself and skydive. The Marina in Lagos offers entertainment with its restaurants and bars, but also all the sea activities you can think of.
The beaches are clean and sandy, with beautiful rock formations or big sand dunes ideal for long walks by the seaside.
The golf courses offer an array of views, from scenic sea views to lovely tree lined fairways. Palmares and Boavista for sea views and Golf Santo António, Espiche Golf and Penina with picturesque pine trees.
There are also churches, museums, galleries, cultural centre with theater and exhibitions and cinema.
Many people we have met and spoken to say that there is something about Lagos that makes them want to stay, so if you do decide to come please be warned you might not want to leave!
